Plan to Correct

Immediate plan of correction: Following the incident involving a child being loosely restrained with a highchair safety belt during breakfast, the action was acknowledged as inappropriate and prohibited. The highchair safety belt was immediately thrown away to prevent future misuse. Moving forward the program will implement the following policies and procedures: • Employee policies will be updated to include a zero tolerance reporting policy. Employees will be required to verbally report any witnessed or alleged use of unreasonable behavior that puts a child's health or safety at risk. The employee must report to the director or the next in charge within the day, failure to do so will result in immediate termination. • A new child protection safety policy will be implemented and added to the 'Parent Handbook' as well as the 'Staff Handbook'. This policy will mandate full body checks for every child at drop off. Any marks, bruises, or anything else that could be considered unusual will be photographed and documented on the ProCare App. • All employees will be enrolled in training for challenging behaviors or positive behavior management. We will also be reviewing current and future children's behaviors and connecting with parents to create a 'Behavior Support Plan' if deemed necessary. These plans will contain specifics on behavior management and prevention strategies. In the future, with these new policies, all requirements will be met according to licensing policies.

340:110-3-288(c)(1)(F) - restraining or tying to restrict a child's movement by any means other than holding. Holding is used only as long as necessary for the child to regain self-control.
