This was talked about with all staff during our Teacher meeting. We went over the guidelines for appropriate and inappropriate types of discipling for the children. We went over a list of ways to handle a wide variety of behaviors. All staff signed our discussion paper. All staff will complete training on positive behavior and guidance.

I spoke to each staff member, one on one, went over the learning program principles that are in the DHS guideline book. I had each staff member sign and date the learning principles section in the DHS guidelines book. I am setting up training for all staff so that they can get ideas to help them organize and develop more activities in the classroom. This was also discussed at our last teacher meeting and staff shared ideas and activities with each other.

We went over the seriousness of taking food away from a child. How this is not appropriate way to discipline any child. We talked about other ways to handle inappropriate behaviors during times when food is served. We also discussed why it could be so harmful to a child and the damage it can do.

I went over and discussed with all staff, the policy for diaper changing and toileting. All staff understands the policy and diaper changing poster with the procedures is now posted in the restroom and the changing mat is kept above the cabinet in the restroom. Policy was signed by all staff.

Teachers completed their training and we went over the training videos at the teachers meeting. We discussed all of the videos and I answered any questions that they had. New staff have started the ELCCT course and I have also ordered training videos on positive guidance and discipline that will be her any day and all staff will have them completed by 11/3/2022. Everyone is also working on an individual compliance review and we will have a 2 hour training when we get it scheduled.

We have discussed the policies over discipline and behavior guidance. All staff understands that this type of discipline cannot be used. We discussed about positive ways that can be used when children are not listening. Training courses are on the way and will be completed by 11/3/2022.

Children are allowed to speak but, are encouraged to use inside voices and to talk softly during row call and when we are making the snack list because of the importance of the paperwork that we have to fill out. This was discussed with all staff and formal training on discipline will be completed.

Plan to Correct

Only lead teachers are allowed to carry their phones for emergency purposes. We have provided a place for all other staff to keep their phones in the office. If a teacher needs their phones in the office. If a teacher needs to check their phone/messages they are to ask permission to leave the room and go to the office. This was discussed with all staff and changes have been made to the employee handbook effective immediately.

We discussed and went over the behavior and guidance that is not acceptable and why it should not be used. Talked about what effects that it can have on the children. We also spoke about the effects of positivity and how children will learn and grow when they are in a place that builds their confidence. All staff will complete courses over positive behavior and guidance.

Itinerary will be provided to parents with newsletter/permission slip every time we have a scheduled fieldtrip. An itinerary will also be taken on the bus that is transporting the children and one will stay at the center and will be posted for everyone to see.
